Underpainting with PureMatch Concealer

If you are looking for a defined and brightened look with out the heaviness. Today I share one of my favorite techniques called underpainting, using Jane Iredale’s newest innovation, PureMatch Concealer. If you are on IG or TT, then you have probably come across this technique popularized by the talented makeup artist Mary Phillips. Let’s dive right in.

What is underpainting

Underpainting is an application of contour and highlighting techniques under foundation in light layers to give the effect without heavy layers. With underpainting, your skin will look chiseled yet airbrushed, giving you the perfect everyday look.

How to apply

  • Start by applying your defined shade of PureMatch Liquid Concealer on all the contour areas, such as the jawline, forehead, and nose.

Tools: For a seamless blend, use a flocked sponge and a blending contour brush.

  • Next, apply a brightening shade on the bridge of your nose, the tip of your cheekbones, in between your brows, under your cheekbones, and other areas where light naturally bounces off your skin.

Tools: Blend using the flocked sponge and blending contour brush.

  • Once you have achieved the desired contour, it's time to apply the HydroPure Tinted Serum foundation.

Tools: Use a chiseled powder brush for an airbrush effect, ensuring a flawless finish.

  • Lastly, don't forget to apply an undereye concealer to complete the look.

What do you think? Again, this is for the natural gals who want to take it a step more and don’t forget the wise words of my dad, use the right tools for the right job. Using a big fluffy brush for the foundation is key in this technique.
