Bronzed- Updated October 2023

With the cold wind blowing and the suns presence shorter and shorter. Bronzers are your skins fall and winter must haves. Bronzers can be a little tricky.  Too much bronzer and you look orange.  Not enough and well, it's not enough bronzer.  Today I share my favorite bronzers and tools to get that perfect bronzed look!

A little more about Bronzers

Let's start with textures.  Bronzers come in different textures, like powder, cream, liquid, some even come in sprays and mousse. Most of us own at least a powder bronzer version.  Some powders come in matte while others have a nice shimmer finish.  I have at least 10 difference colors in my makeup arsenal but the two powders I use the most are PureBronze Matte Bronzer in Light and Medium.

Powder bronzers vary in pigment but compared to the other textures, I find this is the easiest to apply. Great for all skin tones.  Consider this, bronzer for beginners.

In recent years, cream bronzers became more popular, thanks to Kimmy K. I use a cream bronzer for a couple of different reasons and ways. When I need a good contour and more dimension, I use a cream contour with a powder bronzer on top. When I am traveling and not wearing a ton of makeup, I use a cream bronzer. It is like a second skin.

My favorite makeup artist trick when it comes to bronzer is using a deeper foundation. If applied correctly, it is like sun in a bottle. A liquid bronzer is a bit trickier to use, but gosh it has the prettiest finish.  My favorite application trick is to apply a few drops in the palm of your hand or your palette and lightly swirl product with a large blush brush and apply where the sun would naturally hit your skin.

Tools to use: You want to use your trusty ol' fluffy blush or powder brush.  The fluffier the brush, the less pigment gets on your skin.  Bronzing is about blending and building.  If you need a little more pigment then, go ahead and use a more dense fluffy brush and build from there.   Always, and I mean always, blend.

Ready to rock your bronze? I think so!  Make sure to visit your local Jane Iredale retailer.
